No fly zones will always get you in trouble. These zones typically are governed and patrolled by governmental military personnel and armament. Pilots understand these zones. JUST DON’T GO THERE because consequences will follow.
Though this is a clear issue pertaining to pilots, there is a no fly zone for people. It is called the comfort zone. Folks in this zone rarely find the blessing of challenge. Further, folks in this zone can even resist change, even if the change would bring betterment.
You see, challenges and changes can bring blessings. To be in the comfort zone too long can bring the greatest detriment of your life – the opportunity to grow emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
We must accept our challenges.
With challenges, there is an increased focus on whatever is causing the challenge and how much it is pushing you. If the push becomes too hard, you will instantly brace yourself (emotionally, physically, and spiritually) to withstand the strain. This increases strength in that our muscles (again emotionally, physically, and spiritually) are forced to resist and consequently grow.
All of us can get so comfortable in the comfort zone that we miss the challenges that cause growth. We have all been there, haven’t we?
Fear of Change
Change is a difficult area as well. Some fear change. Change definitely forces movement from where you are or what you are doing. It is downright uncomfortable. However, change represents a new opportunity to see things from a different perspective. I have challenged congregations in the past to change seats the following Sunday. You should see their faces!
Change is hard, but it is certainly worth it in the long run. If you resist change, you will be missing a great opportunity to grow. As you can see, both challenge and change force a relocation from the dreaded comfort zone. Dr. Michele and I want to grow daily in these areas and we want all of you to grow with us.
Get into a zone of blessings.
If you are not happy where you are right now, figure out what YOU need to change. Remember you cannot bring others out of their comfort zones until they are ready. If you try, you may wear yourself out while wasting your best opportunity.
Get out of your comfort zone and get into your zone of blessings. To be what you have never been, you must do what you have never done. Have you gotten into a comfort zone that has no growth, challenge, or opportunity to dream? What do you want to change? How can you do it? These are questions to ponder.
