My health was pretty much the pits. I couldn’t figure out why. Compared to everyone around me, I thought I was the healthy one, and I wasn’t on a whole lot of medications, but you know, didn’t feel good. I was always struggling. I knew that I needed to do something, but at that time, I just didn’t know where to go.
A few years ago, I noticed I just didn’t seem to have the energy that I used to have. Things were just changing, and I wasn’t really sure if it was just because I was getting old, or if maybe something was going on with my health. All I wanted to do was just go to work, come home, eat dinner, and sit around and watch TV until I went to bed. I just didn’t seem to have much energy for anything else.
It was a real struggle in the mornings for me to get up and get around. Nobody really could tell at work, because I just put on my happy face, but usually by the time I got home from work, that was about all I had left.
Having those types of limitations, and those struggles with energy, I was really concerned about the rest of my life. I had no idea what was in the future with the limited energy that I had.
I would come home from exercise and I would feel so horrible that it kind of scared me. And I wasn’t benefiting from it. In fact it was making me more tired and more feeling unhealthy.
You know, I don’t really know that I thought I had any extreme health issues at the time, but I did start to get really really sick. I had painful knees, painful elbows, I had spots popping out all over my body, I was pretty sick. And really concerned with the rest of my life. And then with the doctors not being able to find out what was wrong, that just led me to go to another doctor, and another doctor, and after about four or five doctors and expensive testing, I did get diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, and …
I was talking with one of my friends, Shelly Ashey, about my Hashimoto’s, because it was pretty new to me. I didn’t know much about it, and she said, well, I have that too. And she said I got some relief from seeing Dr. Mark and Dr. Michelle.
When I first went to Dr. Michelle, you know, the first thing that she did was just, you know, give me some hope. And it was very sympathetic about how I was feeling, and kind of explained some things that made sense to me, and I left there feeling like things were gonna get brighter for me, as far as my health. I was so surprised when I did go see Dr. Mark, though, with how unhealthy I was, physically.
I hadn’t been on the scales in 20 years. And that was shocking, to say the least.
The foods and the nutrition plan that he gave me introduced me to the right types of foods, and within a couple of weeks, I could tell a difference, but before I had seen Dr. Mark, the only vegetable that I was able to eat canned green beans, so that sounds pretty pathetic, but that was about all I could do. And I was eating more vegetables, cooked properly. And seeing results, and my stomach feeling better, and that was such a relief. I just went in this wanting to feel better, and to feel healthy, and to be able to move around, and enjoy life.
And I’ve lost 53 pounds. And that’s such an added bonus, now, all my exercising, I just feel so energetic and I walk into the gym like I own it, and I do all my exercising, and I walk out like I just, you know, did the best thing for my body, and it’s just such a great feeling, and I can come home and do things the rest of the day, or the rest of the night. I feel good.
Life is fun. It’s exciting again. And so, if there’s anything in this that you can gain from it is that you can feel good too.
Hopefully this might inspire you to take that first phone call, that first step into getting healthy. You won’t regret it.
