I first came to Functional Medical Institute to talk to Dr. Neil about Hormone Replacement Therapy and Cenegenics. I traveled everyday for a living and had seen the advertisements for Cenegenics in airline magazines for years. Yes..I felt tired, fat, lazy and lacking any stamina for anything physical. I looked up a Cenegenics certified doctor in Tulsa and her name came up on the search. I researched her through her website and wow. Bodybuilder, D.O., Nutrition counseling…exactly the type of physician I was looking for. I put it off and put it off, until one day; I just got tired of being tired.
I had also been researching nutrition pretty steadily. My father had been terribly ill. He had diverticulosis and had about a foot of his colon removed. His diet included no vegetables aside from an occasional salad or veggies on a pizza. He pounded grains everyday at every meal. He hadn’t always eaten like this, he loved veggies, but a life change had brought this different eating style/habit into play. After his colon surgery our family noticed a very sharp and aggressive decline in dad’s mental acuity. He was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. And it ravaged him. Within 6 years of his diagnosis we lost him.
In the back of my mind I had correlated colon and brain health as it related to vitamin and mineral absorption. As I did more and more research about the human diet, my thoughts were soon confirmed by reading about the Paleo/Primal lifestyle. It made sense. At my first appointment with Dr. Neil, I approached this subject and she wholeheartedly agreed with me. At last, I had found my physician. She then introduced me to her husband, Dr. Mark Sherwood. We talked nutrition, exercise and lifestyle. The three of us were on the same page.
Within roughly 80 days of my coming to the practice, I had changed radically. Fat loss was huge. My energy level had skyrocketed and I was putting on muscle like crazy. My blood work had changed dramatically for the better. It was a feeling like no other! I felt and still feel like I am back in my 20’s. Seriously, I am 47 and feel just as good as I did when I was 25. I cannot say enough good things about how my life has changed since coming to this clinic. The physicians here care for the whole body, mind and spirit. You can’t find treatment anywhere like Drs. Neil and Sherwood have provided me.
Yes, its takes a commitment to achieve these results. You have to do what they ask of you and take the recommended supplements to get results like I have. But isn’t that worth it? Isn’t optimum health worth everything? I spend less on supplements that I did on prescriptions previously. Now..I take no prescriptions. None. My body has the proper fuel and chemical balance to fight illness, maintain an elevated metabolism, which keeps me fit. I could go on and on.
I just think everyone should be their healthiest, and thanks to the Functional Medical Institute, I am living that every day.
